Dr. Jonathan H. Waters is a Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, USA. He is the former Chief of Anesthesia Services at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC and the former Medical Director of the UPMC Patient Blood Management Program as well as the UPMC Bloodless Medicine Program. Dr. Waters is a Founding Member of the Society for the Advancement of Blood Management, for which he has also served as president (2007-2009). He is also a member of the American Society of Anesthesiology, International Anesthesia Research Society, American Medical Association, the Allegheny County Medical Society, the Pennsylvania Society of Anesthesiologists, and the American Association of Blood Banks. Dr. Waters’ research interests focus on transfusion management, blood salvage, and obstetrics. Dr. Waters has published more than 230 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Waters is on the editorial board of Transfusion and is the Associate Editor of the Blood Management Section. He is also a Contributing Editor of the Obstetric Anesthesia Digest.
