It is with deepest sorrow that we inform you the passing of our dearest friend, Prof. Peter Kubisz, a leading and internationally recognized Slovak hematologist and transfusiologist. Prof. Kubisz was a Professor Emeritus of Department of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, University Hospital, Martin, Slovak Republic.
Prof. Peter Kubisz served as the Guest Editor of the special series on “Sticky Platelet Syndrome” for Annals of Blood in 2022 and provided tremendous support to the development of the journal over the past few years.
He devoted his professional life to the field of hematology and blood transfusion with focus on hemostasis, especially sticky platelet syndrome, therapeutic off-label use of recombinant activated FVII (rFVIIa) in life-threatening bleeding, therapeutic angiogenesis (cellular therapy) in critical limb ischemia, immunotolerance treatment (ITI) in hemophilia A with inhibitor, and many others.
We mourn for him and honor to his memory.
